SaZa's Needs Rating from LITG
Looks like we can no longer ignore the SaZa's phenomenon at 130-A Commerce. I saw where that mutt without opposable thumbs Shadow Pup rated the place at "Sup in the Gump" and I know Fat Tojo has spoken of it on the Lunch in the Gump Facebook page. It's also getting very high reviews on Urban Spoon. Do we think that if we ignore it then it will go away? I know it is not technically a local eatery, but it is just a much a local place as Dreamland or Wintzells. Somebody take the ball and write something witty!! Chop chop!

Your experience here definitely is dependent on what you order. There are some great items I've had: Egg in Purgatory, Stuffed hot peppers, Grandma's eggplant, polenta- the puttanesca was superb and I really enjoyed the grandma's sunday sauce. Some were a disappointment for the price- For instance there are a couple of chicken dishes not on the regular entree menu here- http://www.sazapizza.com/menu.htm
ReplyDeleteThe one we ordered was layered in a marsala sauce that came off like a lean cuisine. I'd stick to the things on the menu on their website. Their pizza oven is good, but their pizza dough comes out of a bag from New Jersey, and very few if any of the desserts are made in-house. Sitting at the counter and having the Chef interactively customize your meal at dinner is worth it- and rare for this area.
I would say that this RS person ought to be a contributor. Pip Pip!
ReplyDeleteTojo hear entrees at Saza's enough for two people. Tojo order bolognese pasta dish for $16. Tojo like, but barely enough for Tojo.
ReplyDeleteSaZa's should be written off the list of acceptable LITG eateries. Too many encounters with the local gendarmes.
