Lunch in the Gump: Taqueria El Cantaro Grill

Literal translation: “Large Jug Taco Shop Grill.” I guess.

  2. The "Babel Fish" translation of this column is a hoot. It reads:

"The green enchiladas ones, young donkeys, tamales, tacos, kidney beans refritos and the rice were very, very good. The sauce was very fresh and fact with coriander. God mine, was magnificent! Better Mexican restaurant in all the Gump. Better than Mexico Tipico and Ixtapa. The waitresses were very short, but pleasant and efficient. In the middle of the food a pretty girl of Latin entered and she sat down next to us. Very easy in the eyes, déjenme to say to them. Catfish liked much. All their shirt dribbled. Ai, ai, ai. The police came alongside to the store of the laborer. We do not know what happened. We did not listen to the firings. Four hours later, not it indigestión. Where? The direction is 1130 Street of the Ann, next to I-85. How much? The price was very cheap. I paid with my card of debit, is no problem."

  4. The Babel Fish translation is a classic. It needs a promotion along with the anonymous spanking of Farm House Kitchen.

  5. Next time you venture back to Down the Street, try their blackberry cobbler! You need to request 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream in a separate bowl to compliment the huge hot portion of cobbler. (If they were mixed together, you could never eat it all before it became a purple milk bowl .) It is well worth sleeping off the ensuing diabetic coma.

  7. Ate at the Jug Grill today. Best chips and Salsa I've had in a long time. Enchiladas were good. This appears to be authentic Mexican food. Very cheap too. Good suggestion.

  8. Ive never eaten at a restaurant where you can sit and the waitress is so short, she's looking you "ojo a ojo" while standing and taking your order. Best salsa in town...go with a combo- beans and rice are filling extras for the same price as other meals.

  9. “Teh” Cantoro is the real deal. You know it is authentic Mexican when you are joined by day laborers. You wont see them at La Zona Rosa.

Shortest waitresses on earth. Must be descendants of the Central/South American pygmy tribe.

    Good food and cheap.
