Montgomery, AL (AP) By the margin of a single vote, Montgomery's Martin's Restaurant has apparently edged Red's Little Schoolhouse in the first annual Lunch in the Gump Cornbread Classic. The LITG Secret Committee has yet to certify the results, however a spokesperson for Red's has already indicated that the results will be contested.
This one is not over by a long shot.
Unofficial vote counts showed Martin's with a one-vote lead. What do you think? Recount?

As a parolee, Little Red's is outside the range of my ankle bracelet. As such it should be removed from consideration. I am simply basing my opinion on the strict interpretation of the LITG Constitution.
ReplyDeleteO/w their pone is excellent.
Yes, but Red used to cut hair at MCC, so he's grandfathered in, right?
ReplyDeleteAs an expert in the field, I have to agree with Reggie, Red's Little Schoolhouse has to be disqualified for several reasons:
ReplyDelete1. It is in the Southwest Territories and I cannot even remember when I last went there.
2. It is NOT in the Gump.
3. The Red's picture shows stuff that looks like a cook sat on.
Martins by a muffin!
You boys are obviously showing your lack of knowledge as to the ways to prepare cornbread. The Martin's version is a baked cornbread (in the oven) and the Little Schoolhouse version is a fried cornbread (in the skillet). So I think you have a winner in two different catagories of cornbread.
ReplyDeleteyou would know this if your grandmomma fried cornbread with her squirrel or baked her cornbread for thanksgiving dinner with the turkey like mine did.
